When I was a little boy it was my dream to become an architect, then a veterinarian and later on a general. But after 18 months in the military, it was clear to me that it was not where I wanted to build my future. I wanted a career in the commercial world.
My career has been an exciting journey, where I have had the opportunity to work for outstanding companies – from when I started as Finance Trainee in A.P Moeller and from here moved on to IBM, which was the icon of the computer industry in the 80s, and where I got my first management position at the age of 26. I now realized that management and technology would be key elements in my career. A realization that brought me to Microsoft where I worked for 14 years – first in Nordic positions, later on as CEO of Microsoft Denmark and then as Head of Western Europe. The last 4 years at Microsoft I was Corporate Vice President, part of “The Executive Team” and leading the U.S sales force.
Returning to Denmark I was CEO of Better Place in 2009-2010. From here I moved to become CEO of Alectia. And as mentioned I decided in 2012 to focus on my non executive career and today I hold a number of exciting board positions.
For more than 25 years as a leader I have had the opportunity to help people become the best version of themselves. I have made TV programs, written books that people have wanted to read and I have worked with different cultures across the world.
Besides, I am the father of two sons, Jacob and Jesper, which I have with my wife Inge, who I have been happy to live with for more than 30 years. Family life, cycling, golf and our two dogs, Silke and Chili, gives me great pleasure and joy in life.
